Carrie Cullen Hitt – President
Ms. Cullen Hitt comes to the Solar Alliance with more than fifteen years of energy industry experience. Prior to joining the Solar Alliance Ms. Cullen Hitt served as Vice President, Renewable Products for Constellation Energy. In this role, she developed programs and capabilities to help customers manage their business’ impact on the environment through greenhouse gas reducing activities, including purchasing renewable power. She also served as Vice President of Government and Regulatory Affairs. From 1999 - 2001, she worked at Green Mountain Energy Resources as Director of Regional Business Development.

Ms. Cullen Hitt has also held positions among a diverse set of energy-focused organizations, including assistant director of the Harvard Electricity Policy Group. She also served as an analyst to the Joint Committee on Energy of the Massachusetts Legislature and served as consultant during discussions on the 1997 Energy Restructuring Act in that State. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Alliance for Clean Energy New York and the Advisory Council for the Massachusetts Renewable Trust. She has also authored numerous articles and papers focusing on how companies can incorporate green purchasing strategies into their energy portfolios. She is a graduate of Clark University and earned her masters in international affairs from Johns Hopkins University.

Sara Birmingham – Director, Western Policy
Ms. Birmingham is responsible for legislative and regulatory activity primarily in California. She joined the Solar Alliance from Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), where she most recently managed the utility's California Solar Initiative (CSI) program as well as its predecessor, the Self-Generation Incentive Program. While Ms. Birmingham was at PG&E, the utility emerged as the national leader in solar installations. She has been involved in renewable and clean distributed generation and energy efficiency since 1998 when she joined PG&E.

OFFICERS
Steve Chadima – Chairman
Mr. Chadima is Executive Vice President of External Affairs at Energy Innovations, Inc., responsible for the company's marketing communications, regulatory and legislative efforts. He joined the company from Idealab, where he was vice president of marketing. Mr. Chadima has been involved with technology start-ups for more than 25 years both as an advisor and as a co-founder or early employee. He has been involved with the solar and renewables industries since the 1980s when he managed a program of low-interest loans for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects for homes and businesses for the City of Portland, Oregon.

Tom Dyer – Vice Chairman
Mr. Dyer, a pioneer in photovoltaics, is the Vice President of Marketing and Government Affairs for Kyocera Solar. His solar career began in the early 1970s at Spectrolab, where low-cost terrestrial solar products were derived from the company's space cell technology. This team developed new terrestrial solar cell fabrication, module packaging, system specification, and sizing techniques. With a background in Electrical Engineering, Mr. Dyer joined Arco Solar (later to be Siemens Solar, Shell Solar and now SolarWorld) in 1977 where he served as Applications Engineer, Manufacturing Manager, Business Development Manager, and in International Sales positions in Singapore (2 years) and Tokyo (5 years), before assuming the duties of Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales in 1987. After establishing a consulting business serving international solar energy clients in 1990, he joined Kyocera Solar in 1996 (formerly Photocomm and Golden Genesis Corp.), an industry leader in PV systems technology, and has served as VP Operations, VP Manufacturing & Engineering, and VP Sales & Marketing before assuming his current duties.

Mark McLanahan – Treasurer
Mr. McLanahan is Vice President, Marketing and Strategy at MMA Renewable Ventures where is responsible for overall corporate development efforts, including marketing, policy, and new initiatives. For the previous seven years, Mr. McLanahan was with Gap Inc., most recently as Director of Company Planning with responsibility for business planning and financial risk management. Prior to that, he was on the EMEA financial planning team for Compaq Computer in Munich, Germany. He has more than ten years of business planning experience in corporate and startup environments.

Christopher O'Brien – Chairman, Membership Committee
Mr. O'Brien is Vice President for Strategy & Government Relations for Sharp Electronics Corporation, Solar Energy Solutions Group (Sharp Solar), the world's leading producer of solar photovoltaic equipment. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), as a Board member of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) and as a member of the Advisory Board member for the National Center for Photovoltaics (NCPV). Mr. O'Brien has held senior management positions with leading solar PV companies since 1995. He has previous career experience in the energy efficiency industry, the independent power industry, and in grass roots energy efficiency development in Africa.

Charles F. Gay, PhD – Chairman, Marketing Committee
Dr. Gay is Vice President and General Manager, Solar Business Group, at Applied Materials, Inc., responsible for establishing and building Applied Materials' solar business. He is an industry veteran with over 30 years of experience in the solar industry. In 1975 he began designing solar power system components for communications satellites at Spectrolab, Inc. and later joined ARCO Solar, where he established the research and development program and led the commercialization of single crystal silicon and thin film technologies. In 1990, Dr. Gay became president and chief operating officer of Siemens Solar Industries and from 1994 to 1997, he served as Director of the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the world's leading laboratory for energy efficiency and renewable energy research and technology. In 1997, he served as president and chief executive officer of ASE Americas, Inc., and in 2001 became chairman of the advisory board at SunPower Corporation. Dr. Gay is also a co-founder of the Greenstar Foundation, an organization that delivers solar power and internet access for health, education and microenterprise projects to small villages in the developing world. Greenstar has been recognized for its innovation by the World Bank, the Stockholm Challenge, the Technology Empowerment Network and the Tech Museum Awards.
